THIS WEEK: WHAT’S THE BIG DEAL WITH PRIMARY ELECTIONS IN ORANGE COUNTY?

THIS WEEK: WHAT’S THE BIG DEAL WITH PRIMARY ELECTIONS IN ORANGE COUNTY?

Primary elections are often punctuated with little interest and low turnout. But in Orange County, NC, where many more Democrats are registered than Republicans, the winner of the May primary almost always wins the general election in November.

Bottom line: Primaries matter in Orange County.

Since Orange County leadership is often determined in the May primary, the Chamber is, once again, ramping up our primary engagement. We will make sure Chamber members know what offices are up for grabs and how candidates align with positions that matter to the business community.

Here’s how to you can make a difference with us in the 2018 primaries:

1) Get informed: In the coming weeks, Chamber members will receive a summary of survey responses from candidates for Orange County Commissioner as well as a link to short videos from all candidates sharing why they are running for office and what they will do to make our community a great place to start and grow a business. Make sure you check 'em out.

2) Get engaged: In the meantime, register now for Eggs with Elected Officials + Candidates - an easy way to connect with nearly all relevant policy makers and candidates in one delicious swoop. The event is free for Chamber members and will be held on the morning of Wednesday, April 18th in The Great Room at Top of the Hill in Chapel Hill (complimentary parking validation, too).
