Purpose:
To enable and support The Chamber for a Greater Chapel Hill-Carrboro and its Partnership's success by delivering excellent programs, events, and exceptional customer service to members and visitors.
Description:
The Director of Programs and Events will plan and execute a wide range of networking and signature events, delivering high value and engagement opportunities for the Chamber’s nearly 700 members, earning the highest levels of reinvestment.
Classification:
At-will, exempt, employee reporting to and serving at the discretion of the President/CEO and Vice President for Member Success and Engagement, not inconsistent with adopted personnel policies and procedures. This position’s day-to-day member engagement and program management are supervised by the Vice President for Member Success and Engagement.
Salary Range:

Qualifications:
Must have strong organizational skills, flexibility and strong interpersonal and communication skills, as well as a commitment to the success of The Chamber, its member organizations, and the success of all events and programs. A bachelor’s degree is preferred. Knowledge of nonprofit organizations and ability to quickly learn and operate database software and other programs is required.
Work Week:
The typical work week will be from 8:30 a.m.–5:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, with frequent early morning and evening events and commitments. Most state and federal holidays are observed.
Job Duties:
1. Create excellent, memorable member experiences that build affinity and loyalty.
2. Plan, execute, and evaluate Signature Events: Annual Meeting, Business Excellence Awards, Leadership Chapel Hill-Carrboro, Chamber Tournaments, Local Government Reception, Local Business Expo, Public Policy Series, State of the Community Report and Conference, Salute to Community Heroes and the biennial Inter-City Visit and Leadership Conference.
3. Oversee the planning, executing, and evaluating all Chamber Regular Programs: Business After Hours, Coffee with the President, Women’s Networking, Chamber Connect, Young Professionals Network, etc.
4. Manage communications and events staff and volunteers.
5. Staff and support the volunteer leadership of the Chapel Hill Young Professionals Leadership Team and its marketing and programming.
6. Maintain accurate event records for all Chamber and Partnership programs, including registrations, attendance, net promoter score, revenue, and expenses, and report progress and final evaluations to Chamber staff and the Board.
7. Develop and manage event and program budgets, track revenue/expenses, and ensure financial goals (including net revenue) are met.
8. Coordinate all promotional materials for events, ensuring successful marketing.
9. Ensure availability and accuracy of all event information across all mediums and platforms.
10. Recruit, coordinate, and support speakers, panelists, and facilitators for Chamber programs.
11. Actively participate in weekly staff meetings, leading the programming portion of the meeting.
12. Build and maintain relationships with Chamber members by responding to requests promptly and assisting fellow staff members in membership outreach efforts to increase membership investment and welcome new members.
13. Willingly accept other duties and special projects as assigned.
