With Great Appreciation for Katie Loovis' Service to The Chamber

The following statement from Chamber President and CEO, Aaron Nelson, was sent to the full Chamber membership on 3/28/2023.

Dear Chamber Members,

I write to share the bittersweet news that Katie Loovis, your vice president for community, economic, and workforce development, has accepted a new job opportunity and her last day at The Chamber will be Friday, April 14, 2023.

It is with gratitude for a job well done that I share with you all that in mid-April Katie will be leaving The Chamber to become the first Executive Director of the North Carolina Community Colleges Foundation. We are so excited for her to find a job so perfectly suited to her personal and professional skills and abilities. We know Katie will do great things for our state, the 58 community colleges, and their half-million community college students. You can read the hiring announcement here.

As we celebrate Katie’s new opportunity, we are also working closely with her on a smooth transition and in the coming days will be sharing more information about our search for a Director of Government Affairs. This redesigned role will focus on advancing our Policy and Advocacy Agenda and achieving our Vision for a thriving economy and community. As you know, we have a wonderful team at The Chamber and it is an exciting place to work. Please help us recruit a great new colleague!

Katie brought her years of White House, corporate, and non-profit experience to our Chamber and successfully led and supported major initiatives including Big Bold Ideas, Chamber rebranding, COVID response, Inter-City Visit, Leadership Chapel Hill-Carrboro, Critical Issues Series, Public Policy Agenda, government relations, and the Summer Careers Academy (just to name a few). On behalf of The Chamber Board of Directors, staff, and our 600+ Chamber member enterprises, I want to publicly thank Katie for her more than five years of thoughtful service to our members and community.

Katie will continue to live in Greater Chapel Hill-Carrboro and intends to remain involved in the community. She invites you to stay in touch with her after April 14th through her personal email.

In partnership,

Aaron
